Hopefully you all had fun playing the level and no one broke their Switch throwing it against the wall in anger.

Savestate is holding a Mario Maker 2 contest! Grand prize is a hardcover copy of Savestate with a colored drawing inside!
How to win?
- Only available to those living in the US / Canada since the book will have to be mailed.
- You have until Friday, August 2 to enter.
- Play and beat the Mario Maker 2 level with course ID 478-FBB-2HF
- At the end of the level will be a code written in blocks. Take note of this.
- Send an email to savestatecomic (at) gmail.com with your Mario Maker name and the code from the end of the level.
- Everyone who finishes the level will be entered into a drawing to win the grand prize.
- Do I get anything for being the first to beat the level?
- No. This isn’t a speed run. People have school, work, and other video games to play.
- Do I need to send my mailing address?
- It would make things easier but it’s not required. I’ll contact you to get that information if you win.
- What if the winner isn’t able to claim the prize?
- If I can’t get in contact with the winner to get a mailing address then a new winner will be chosen from the list of those who’ve completed the level.
- Why do I need to email my Mario Maker name and the code from the end of the level?
- To keep things fair. Mario Maker keeps track of who’s beaten each level, however that information is publicly available. The code at the end of the level acts as proof that you’ve actually reached the end of the level and aren’t just pretending to be someone on the leader board.
- What if no one beats the level?
- Then I’ll make an easier level and we’ll try this again.
So I’m an idiot and didn’t realize Mario Maker 2 still had level previews, which meant the secret code was visible to everyone. I’ve fixed this and uploaded the level again. For those that had cleared the original level, I have a log of all previous clears so don’t worry about having to re-beat the level.
Special acclamations to shifter311 who not only was the first to clear the level but held the record at 8’37″.
April 12-14 I’ll be at Motor City FurCon, this time in the Dealer’s Den. Then on May 4 I’ll be at Nostalgia Ink during
Free Comic Book Day. If you’re able to attend either event stop by and say hey.
The sketch is just something I’ve been working on and plain text updates are boring, so here ya’ go. Keeping with the idea of Ashe as Wile E Coyote I thought B.O.B. should be a roadrunner and based his design off Kass.
The planets have aligned and Cthulhu has awoken because the Savestate Store is finally open!
To start off I’m going to keep the stock levels kind of low while I’m learning the ropes of running a store. I’ll update the store as shipments get sent out, so if there’s something you want that’s out of stock just check back in a few days.
Update – Oh, I almost forgot. I’ll be working on a PDF version of the book next. I should be able to sell it directly from the Savestate Store and I’m also looking into listing it on Comixology. Either way they’ll be DRM free because DRM sucks.
I’ve been working on this for almost the entire year but it’s finally here: the Savestate vol 1 book in paperback and hardcover!
Here are a few details:
- 9″ x 6″ with 168 pages
- Collects the first three years ending on the comic where Riley gives Kade a Famicom Classic for the Holidays.
- A 9 page bonus comic that fills in some of the Savestate backstory and introduces Uncle Scooby.
- Pictures of the real life Kade and Nicole: Ivy and Mandy.
- Bios of the main cast.
- Embarrassing concept art.
- And bonus art from those first three years.
The paperback version is $15 and the hardcover is $25. The internal pages are exactly the same so it really comes down to your personal preference.
The book will be available first at Midwest Furfest 2018 convention. This year I’ll actually be in the Dealers Den at table W4. Here’s a map in case you get lost. I’ll also have a few other new things at MFF so stop by and check them out.
After that the book will be for sale online and I’m looking into how best to sell a PDF version if you’d rather have a digital copy.
Finally reached enough comics to compile them into a book!
If that’s something you’re interested in it be very helpful if you could fill out this Google form, https://bit.ly/2GXIzNW. You don’t have to login or leave an email and it’s only three questions.
If you’re wondering why I haven’t updated my Facebook page with the new comic from last Wednesday it’s because I can’t. Nothing works on Facebook right now. I can’t even ask them to fix anything because the help button doesn’t work. I had to create a second account just so I could ask them a question…
So, I haven’t abandoned Facebook… at least, not by choice. I’ll start updated on Facebook again whenever they get around to fixing things.
Turns out I can still use the FB App to make posts. We’ll see how long I can put up with having to transfer the files to my phone and then type out the URL while FB constantly tries to point to some other website. But at least it’s working for now.
Last minute post, I know, but I wanted to make sure everything was ready.
Once again, I’ll be at Midwest FurFest this weekend. I’ll be hanging out in the Artists Alley, which is determined by lottery so I’ll let everyone know via Twitter if I got a seat for that day. Stop by and say “hi” and get a sketch. I’ll be much easier to find this year since I made a display sign to drape over the table.
Also, the Harvey plushies showed up last weekend! So I have a fresh stock of charms ($5) and Harvey plushies ($15) for sale. Once the convention is over I’ll get the online store up and running so everyone else can place orders.
Everyone’s been asking for it, and now you’re going to get it.
A Harvey plush!
Harvey is very indifferent to be in plush form.
Harvey sits just under 8 inches to the top of it’s head.
Harvey’s arms are connected with snaps so they can be removed.
The arms have no stuffing so they hang and flop around. The hands are filled with beans which allows you to place them.
Busting doesn’t make Harvey feel good.
Don’t mind Harvey. It’s just taking out the trash.
Someone has to make the first move…
ROB is back for revenge!
These are pictures of the original prototype. They are currently being produced and I hope to have them available in a month or two (it’s hard to nail down an exact release date since large shipments often get held up at the docks). I’ve also got a new shipment of charms on the way. If you’re going to be at Midwest FurFest I plan to have both on sale so you can save a little on shipping.
This weekend I’ll be at Midwest Furfest 2015. MFF uses a raffle system to get a seat in their Artist’s Alley, so if I get a spot I’ll Tweet to let everyone know. I’ll have a few things to sell, like rest of the Kade and Nicole charms from my initial order.
Speaking of charms, I’ve got the designs for the rest of the cast ready. Ness and Rick will be double sided on clear acrylic and Ness will have a jingle bell attached to her collar. Harvey will be single sided and printed on a semi-transparrent black acrylic. Once I get a new order of everyone in I’ll put these up for sale online.
Next month I’ll be in Seattle for RainFurrest 2015. Jan and Reynard have graciously allowed me to sit with them in the Dealers Den. If you’re attending then stop by and say, “hi.” The theme this year is “Swords and Sorcery.”
I’ll also have the first batch of Savestate charms available for sale. They are double sided and the main charm is 1.5 inches tall (not including the hanging dog tag). See below for a size comparison with a 3DS XL. They’ll be $5 each.
I’ve been working on a few ideas for some Savestate swag. Let me know what you think in the comments or email. These are mockups only and do not represent the final products.
First up is custom 10-Dohs from Squid Kids Ink. These will be a little tricky to do because I currently can’t buy the 10-Doh with Zapper in bulk and I haven’t had any luck getting the label printed with enough adhesive. I still think they’d look awesome.
Next are some clear acrylic charms. They would be double sided and feature a second hanging charm for Kade and Nicole’s collar tags. Right now I plan on the heads being 2 inches tall unless you guys let me know you’d rather they be smaller.
Good news, everyone! Savestate is now on Comic Chameleon!
Comic Chameleon is an app that lets you subscribe to different webcomics and then read them panel-by-panel.
Unfortunately, it’s currently only available for iOS, but the developer is currently working on an Android version.
Check out the link on the right or download it from the Apple App Store.
Just a quick note – have you seen the Sonic 2 logo over there? =>
Well now you can get some bait art after voting on TWC! Most of these pictures will eventually get posted on one of my gallery sites, so don’t feel like you have to vote if you don’t want to.
